Guide Dogs SA NT

Jan Martin - Executive Director, LSSA, and Winnie Pelz - CEO, Guide Dogs SA.NT

Law Society of South Australia members are working hard to raise $25,000 to purchase and train a guide dog, providing independence for someone with vision loss.

We are delighted to partner with Guide Dogs SA.NT and are committed to assisting the vision-impaired community of South Australia.

Guide Dogs SA.NT has been established for more than 50 years and provides services throughout South Australia and the Northern Territory, including remote indigenous communities. Initially established to train and provide guide dogs for people with major vision loss, Guide Dogs SA.NT is today an organisation which provides a wide range of services for people with vision and hearing loss or impairment. However, the program with the highest profile in the community is the guide dog training program – and it is the one which receives no government support, depending instead on community generosity and goodwill.

L-R: Geoff Thomas, Troy Flower and Michelle Griffith

Cancer Council SA has been a key charity partner of the Law Society of South Australia since 2009.

Each year the Law Society organises a fundraising team to ‘Ride for a Reason’ in the annual Tour Down Under Mutual Community Challenge Tour. Each team member raises as much money as possible to go towards Cancer Council SA, which is also the official charity partner of the Tour Down Under. The Law Society fundraising team has raised around $12,000 since the establishment of the partnership.

Cancer Council SA is the state's leading non-government cancer control organisation, dedicated to ensuring that South Australians are reducing their cancer risk and receiving the best cancer care.
