The Workers Liens Act 1893 is a powerful tool in the armoury of a construction lawyer however, it is also a piece of legislation that the High Court has observed is generally acknowledged to raise extreme difficulties of interpretation. This presentation seeks to unpack the workings of the Workers Liens Act as it applies to construction disputes and provide an analysis of key cases that assist in the interpretation and the understanding of the Act. This CPD session will explore how principles dating back to 1893 are applicable and highly relevant to today’s construction law landscape.

About the Presenter:
Jonathan Brohier graduated with First Class Honours in 2016 and has practiced in the areas of civil litigation and criminal law for over 7 years. Jonathan has been instructing solicitor and Counsel in a variety of construction disputes for a period of three years and is developing a practice in the area of construction law.
