Inappropriate behaviour in the workplace typically falls into three categories: discrimination, sexual harassment, and bullying. In light of recent legislative changes and the introduction of the Code of Practice "Managing the risk of psychosocial hazards at work" on 1 April 2023. QLS has created a scenario-based workshop. This workshop is designed to provide participants with the knowledge, tools and confidence needed to address inappropriate behaviour in a safe and constructive manner.

Originally developed by QLS, our presenters have undergone specialised training to become qualified facilitators of this workshop here in South Australia. The workshop aims to help participants develop skills to intervene in such behaviours by becoming Active Bystanders. It includes recorded workplace scenes with professional actors to illustrate various forms of bullying, harassment and discrimination.

By the end of the session, participants will have:

  • Enhanced their ability to recognise bullying, sexual harassment, and discrimination in the workplace.
  • Gained an understanding of the factors influencing the decision to intervene and how to respond effectively to inappropriate behaviors.
  • Acquired Active Bystander tools to move from passive observation to active intervention, promoting positive behavioral change.

The presenters will also be able to advise on SA specific questions and resources available to practitioners including the "Speak safely' reporting tool.

This is an important workshop for all South Australian legal practitioners. We would like to encourage as many as possible of you to attend and for those that will miss out on this day, we will run another session in October.

Please note, this is an in-person and live webinar only, no recording will be available for this session.
