This session will provide an overview of the new statutory tort for serious invasion of privacy. In late 2024, the Commonwealth Parliament passed legislation introducing a new statutory tort for serious invasion of privacy. This session provides all practitioners with an overview of the new tort, including its defences, and addresses the issues likely to arise in making and defending claims.
