Native Title for the Uninitiated
Thursday, 27 February 2025 | 5:00pm - 6:30pm | In-Person & by Webinar
1.5 CPD units (Standard)

Presenter: David Billington SC, Howard Zelling Chambers

It's Mabo and it's law, but it's NOT the Constitution or 'the vibe'. Is it justice? Native title has been recognised by the English common law since at least 1608, but in Australia only since 1992. More than 30 years later, confusion remains about what native title is and what it does. This session steps through some of the basics of this fascinating intersection of law, history and Aboriginal culture.
