These risk management focused workshop sessions on managing client expectations and developing attention to detail in office work processes are targeted for all legal personnel to learn how to avoid claims and produce quality work and outcomes. Suitable for all legal practice staff members, we encourage legal practitioners to also register their administrative and office management staff to attend these sessions, free of charge.
Session 1 - Managing Client Intake, Expectations and Risks
Time: 10:15am - 11:45am
CPD: 1.5 CPD Units in Practice Management/Business Skills
Presenter: Jane LeMessurier, LeMessurier Harrington Consulting
This session will outline:
- effective client management from pre intake to completion of the retainer;
- creating a solid leadership and communication framework within a legal practice; and
- comprehensive client interaction leading to excellent outcomes.
Session 2 - Ensuring Attention to Detail and Good Systems
Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm
CPD: 1.5 CPD Units in Practice Management/Business Skills
Presenter: Sue Harrington, LeMessurier Harrington Consulting
This session will outline:
- quality output requires consistent high-quality input;
- how human error and system failure in any part of the work chain can cause claims and complaints; and
- how simple improvements can bring great benefits.
The Law Society's Risk Management team will also be launching two online training modules on retainer management and critical dates systems during these sessions.
A complimentary light lunch will be provided following the first session.

PI Scheme Participants admitted more than 3 years: $110 per session
PI Scheme Participants admitted less than 3 years: $85 per session
Non-PI Scheme Participants: $160 per session
