Session 1: New Rules to replace Probate Rules 2015 for the
Succession Act 2023
Panel Presenters:

The panel will discuss the changes proposed to the Uniform Civil Rules to replace the Probate Rules 2015 on the commencement of the Succession Act 2023, and will highlight some of the new procedures applicable to grants and to applications to the Supreme Court in relation to deceased estates.

Trustee Act

This session will consider provisions of the
Trustee Act
and how they may assist trustees in the administration of estates and trusts.
Session 3: Tax 101: The Prequel
Presenter:
Ian Raspin, BNR Partners
To many people, tax in a deceased estate context is about things like tax file numbers, tax returns, tax-free thresholds and tax liabilities. However, there are a range of 'tax-related' issues that practitioners should be alert to throughout the estate administration process. Through a series of common scenarios, Ian will explain why these issues are important.
Session 4: Digital Assets inclusive of Cryptocurrency

This session will provide an in-depth look at the role of litigation guardians, focusing on their critical function in protecting the interests of vulnerable parties in legal proceedings. You will learn about the key duties, responsibilities, and best practices for effectively representing those unable to advocate for themselves, including analysis of some helpful case studies.
This session caters to new or experienced lawyers looking to expand their knowledge.
Session 6: 2024 Estate Judgments in South Australia

In this session, Mark Taylor will take attendees on a whistle stop tour through 2024 SA judgments relating to deceased estates.
