9:00am - 10:30am: Understanding the Right to Disconnect, Union Delegate Rights, and the new definitions of employee and casual

10:30am - 11:00am: The implementation of the new jurisdictions at the Fair Work Commission
Presenter: Commissioner Emma Thornton, Fair Work Commission

An overview of the process and procedure to be adopted by the Fair Work Commission in implementing the new jurisdictions conferred on it by the Secure Jobs/ Better Pay and Closing the Loopholes legislation. This session will assist practitioners to have a better understanding of how to conduct these matters in the Commission when acting for applicants or respondents.

It will cover the foundational adjustments in processes, the enhancements in flexibility and worker protections, and the final consolidations and enforcement measures aimed at ensuring a more effective and fair bargaining system.
