Defendants in custody during lockdown

21 July 2021

The Chief Magistrate further advised the Department of Correctional Services has advised they will be unable to bring defendants in custody to court for hearings or trials during the Level 5 lockdown restrictions (as the threat to the overall prison population is too great).  Therefore any trials in the Magistrates Court that have a defendant in custody will need to be vacated and relisted as soon as possible. Other hearings will need to be arranged by AVL.
