Social media advertising has taken on increased importance for businesses of all shapes and sizes in recent years. So what are we, as legal advisors, to make of this brave new world… and is it really all that new after all? This session will include an analysis of the relevant consumer laws and cases in relation to social media advertising, consideration of the views of regulators and peak industry bodies, assessment of the potential risks and traps to avoid for clients engaging "influencers" in their social media marketing, and consideration of where things might be heading in the future when it comes to regulation of social media.
