About the session:

This course is directed to those who are starting out as advocates or those who seek to refresh their skills and techniques in a courtroom setting before Judges and Senior Counsel.

It will include a short presentation by an experienced clinical psychologist on anxiety management, followed by interactive workshop exercises, giving participants the opportunity to argue contemporary issues in SAET in a realistic court environment, led by leading barristers and judges in their field including President Justice Dolphin, Deputy President Judge Rossi, The Hon Robyn Layton AO QC, Michael Roder QC and others.

Places are limited to 20 persons and will be filled on a first come, first in basis.

This Advocacy Training is for people with all levels of experience, however, as should be reasonably apparent this event involves participants in preparing and presenting as if in Court on the basis of material distributed prior to the event and requires prior presentation. if you enroll, you must do the necessary preparation and it is expected that you would be fully prepared to the best of your capacity, in order to participate in the exercise.  

Training workbooks will be emailed to all registered delegates 2 weeks prior to the workshop.

Cancellations: Payment in full of the registration fee is required to be made at least five working days prior to the event.  Previously paid registrations are transferable subject to the alternate attendee being eligible to register at the same registration fee (that is a practitioner who is not a Society member is not eligible to attend in place of a member without the price differential having been paid. Any person who has registered and paid to attend an event but is subsequently unable to do so and does not wish to transfer the registration is able to apply to the Society for a refund, however such refunds (in whole or in part) will be at the discretion of the Law Society subject to the circumstances and any external costs paid by the Society which cannot be recovered by us.
