Claims are on the rise in wills and estates. The Inheritance (Family Provision) Act is proving to be a particular hot spot. The Society has purchased a suite of documents for wills and estates from Lexon, the insurer of the Queensland PII scheme which have been adapted to SA legislation and court rules. These documents will be discussed during the session and made available to attendees. In this multimedia workshop very recent claims will be examined with a focus on how good systems and procedures will reduce a firm’s vulnerability.

Ethical lapses play a part in many claims and can range from financial issues, internal pressures, and loss of perspective to conflict of interests and duties to the client and court. This multimedia workshop will focus on building firm culture and individual professional ethics which results in appropriate decision making, retainer management, supervision and communication.
