2019 Golden Gavel Competition


What is the Golden Gavel?
The Golden Gavel is a public speaking competition aimed at young lawyers, which started in SA in 2003. Each year, young lawyers test their public speaking skills and comedic genius at Golden Gavel competitions across the country. With the winner of the each state and territory going on to compete in the National Golden Gavel Competition later this year.

Would you like to compete?
The Golden Gavel is open to Members of the Society who are under the age of 35 or within their first five years of practice.

As a Golden Gavel competitor you will have the opportunity to display your skills in front of your colleagues and eminent identities of the profession! Competitors will be provided with their topic twenty-four hours prior to the Competition, and will have just five minutes to move the audience to hysterics in order to claim the title on the night. The winner will go on to represent South Australia at the National Golden Gavel, later this year.
