The Retail and Commercial Leases (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2019 is presently before the Upper House of State Parliament, following the lapse of the Retail and Commercial Leases (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2017 prior to the 2018 State election. This session will cover the major changes currently proposed by the 2019 Bill, including:
- New exemptions from the application of the Retail and Commercial Leases Act.
- Circumstances where the Act can commence or cease application during the life of a Lease.
- New disclosure requirements.
- New provisions relating to execution, registration and return of Leases.
- New rules relating to security bonds and bank guarantees.
- New penalties for non-compliance, and more.
