Since late March, COVID-19 has forced many employers, including owners of law firms, to rely on the JobKeeper wage subsidy scheme to support their operations and keep staff employed.

The initial six-month JobKeeper scheme comes to an end on 27 September 2020 and will be replaced by a new wage subsidy scheme dubbed ‘JobKeeper 2.0’. The new scheme will commence with changed eligibility requirements and will run for six months until 28 March 2021.

The Government has also made changes to the JobKeeper provisions of the Fair Work legislation.
