2 CPD units (Practice Management/Business Skills)
Presenter: Thilan Legierse - Leadership Coach, Trainer and Speaker
Conflict is inevitable in legal workplaces — whether with colleagues, clients or within teams — yet many professionals feel underprepared to navigate difficult conversations effectively. This practical and interactive workshop will help participants better understand the dynamics and core drivers of workplace conflict, including the role of needs, values, beliefs, assumptions and emotional triggers. Participants will also explore different conflict styles and gain insight into how their own communication patterns and behaviours may influence the escalation or resolution of conflict.
Drawing on her background as a barrister, UN lawyer, mediator and leadership coach, Thilan Legierse will provide practical strategies and tools to help participants approach difficult conversations with greater confidence, professionalism and emotional intelligence. The workshop will include practical de-escalation techniques, communication frameworks, reflection exercises and interactive discussions focused on real-world legal workplace scenarios. Participants will leave with practical skills they can immediately apply to strengthen communication, reduce tension and navigate challenging situations more effectively.
