This seminar will cover the following topics:
. The Commonwealth Legislation Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (which was significantly reformed in March 2014 and concerns protection of an individual’s ‘personal information').
. The Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) – collecting, using and disclosing personal information in the workplace.
. Legal issues concerning social media and privacy
. The Information Sharing Guidelines, looking at policy and practice matters. Given Law Society members may be called on to provide advice about privacy regimes to a range of private and public sector clients – some will no doubt be implementing the ISG, which also aligns with proposed privacy legislation for SA.
