Forensic Biology and DNA: A brief intro to the basics
Wednesday 18 April 2018
Slide and Recording
Length: 1 hour 13 minutes
Recorded on 18 April 2018
Jae Gerhard is one of the Principal Scientists at Independent Forensic Services and has over 10 years’ experience in operational forensic science. She has been involved in thousands of cases – including attendance at crime scenes. She is an expert in biological material (including blood, saliva, semen, bloodstain pattern analysis) as well as DNA analysis and interpretation. As a director of Independent Forensic Services, she is exposed to flaws in DNA evidence regularly.
In this presentation Jae will discuss the basics of DNA profiling, recent technical and procedural changes relating to the handling of Forensic Biology and DNA evidence, and give you an insight into what questions you should be asking when DNA evidence is relied upon in your case.
This presentation is aimed at individuals who have at least some experience in dealing with DNA matters. Delegates should have an idea of what a biology/DNA report looks like.
