The Solicitor-General of the State of South Australia will present his paper on the topic of ‘Treaty-Making under the Australian Constitution: Federal Challenges and Opportunities’ in which he surveys the steps taken towards treaty-making across various Australian jurisdictions and recommends that consideration be given to pursuing treaty-making in a coordinated way by means of co-operative federal framework. Such an approach, it is argued, would be pragmatic, prudential and symbolically significant.
