The Lifetime Support Authority (LSA) is a statutory authority administering the Lifetime Support Scheme (LSS/the scheme), which commenced on 1 July 2014. The scheme provides treatment, care and support to people who have sustained very serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident in SA. The LSS Rules, subordinate legislation, are issued under the Motor Vehicle Accidents (Lifetime Support Scheme) Act 2013 and provide information about eligibility, as well as the treatment, care and support services available under the scheme.
Half of the scheme's participants also have a compulsory third party claim, which means that many LSS participants have representation. This session will explore the LSS Rules to clarify expectations and also to explain the late 2018 update to the LSS Rules and the new sections, relevant for solicitors working in this space.
