1.5 CPD UNITS IN PROFESSIONAL SKILLS Presenter: Magistrate John Wells This seminar is aimed at junior lawyers working in criminal law in their first two years of practice. It will focus on the fundamentals of advocacy and the skills needed when you first start appearing in the Magistrates Court: basic appearances, adjournments, court procedures and what you need to do (and what you need to avoid) to ensure a successful court hearing. The seminar will give an overview of summary advocacy and then focus on bail applications.
The speaker is John Wells, a magistrate who has, in the past, made some of South Australia’s finest judicial officers quite angry indeed.
